Your state rep can except unlimited gifts from lobbyists and you would never know it – it is legal. House Ethics rules do require reporting gifts over $250 ($650 if hospitality).

Our taxes fund hundreds of millions of dollars – money controlled by just 6 ‘leaders’ who control all legislation and the other 247 members of our General Assembly.

Costliest

1 of only 4 full-time state legislatures, salary over $100k, plus $185 cash per day, plus other unaccountable expenses. Staff salaries over $200k and in just the house, over $200 million in “leadership” money controlled by just 6 reps with no transparency or accountability. Legislators have other full-time jobs, in session no more than 65 days – it is a part-time job.

Least Effective

Through feudal rule adoption on the very first day of a new session, the same 6 reps control all bills for two years, killing widely popular bills, fast tracking pet projects, attaching pork.

Gift Ban’s cosponsors were 55% of reps – more than votes needed – yet it died without getting a floor vote.

Efficiency

Resources must be used effectively, minimizing waste and maximizing benefits for all. Spending $60M on research and printing of thousands of bills that oligarchy kills is just one example of how obsenely wasteful it is.

Freedom

Freedom and personal responsibility go together. Stop criminalizing victimless behavior so law enforcement can focus on violence, fraud, and theft, making us safer, and increasing freedom.
